We Took 7 Women to Tulum for Galentine's—Here’s What Happened
A Galentine’s Getaway with Purpose
Valentine’s Day can feel like a holiday designed for couples, but we wanted to flip that script. We wanted to create something special for women—especially single women—who often feel left out during this season. That’s how this Galentine’s trip to Tulum was born: a space for women to celebrate friendship, faith, and adventure in a tropical paradise.
Seven incredible women joined us for this Galentine’s getaway, and while many of us were seasoned travelers (and a few who are getting there), one thing was true for all of us—we wanted connection, meaningful experiences, and time to reflect on where God is leading us.
Little did we know just how much this trip would strengthen our faith, friendships, and sense of adventure.
Welcome to Tulum!
The trip officially began with our welcome dinner—a beautiful spot with delicious food, lively music, and an undeniable sense of a new culture and excitement in the air. Although the co-leaders arrived a few days earlier, it was at this dinner that everything felt real. We were here. Together. Ready for the adventurous days ahead.
Faith, Fun, and Adventure—The Highlights
We packed so much into three full days that it felt like a week’s worth of experiences. Here are just a few of the standout moments:
🏛️ Exploring the Tulum Ruins
The stunning blue waters surrounding the ruins took our breath away. Walking through history while marveling at God’s creation was the perfect start to our adventure.
🍳 A Traditional Mexican Cooking Class
Our host was like a warm and loving Mexican mama—so welcoming, full of joy, and passionate about sharing her culture with us. After creating an incredible meal together, she even rubbed aloe on us because we had all gotten a bit too much sun. Talk about hospitality!
💪 Adventure Day: Ziplining, ATVs & a Cenote Swim
We laughed, screamed, and pushed ourselves outside our comfort zones doing the local Maya Adrenaline Tour. Whether flying through the trees on a zipline, riding ATVs, or swimming in a cenote cave (incredible!), every moment felt exciting.
💖 Valentine’s Day Celebration & AffirmationS
At our Valentine’s dinner, we took the time to encourage and uplift one another. It also happened to be one of our girl’s birthdays, so we went around the table and spoke words of affirmation over her. This was such a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the importance of speaking life into each other.
🏄♀️ Beach Day & Surf Lessons
Some of the girls hit the waves for a surf lesson, while the rest of us simply enjoyed the sun, waterfront pool, the sand, and the peace of being by the ocean.
A Time of Faith and Reflection
In the middle of all the fun, we made space for our faith. We gathered for a devotional about freedom from shame and taking our thoughts captive. It was a beautiful moment of connection—not just with each other, but with God.
Throughout the trip, verses about gathering and building each other up kept coming to mind, particularly 1 Thessalonians 5:11 — “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing” and Ephesians 3:20, which reminds us that God’s plans for us are far greater than anything we could dream up ourselves.
The Lessons and Takeaways
This trip reinforced something we already knew: women need each other.
We need spaces where we can be ourselves, where we are encouraged in our faith, and where we can adventure without fear.
It was also a lesson in trusting God’s plans—so often, He has more for us than we could ever imagine. Even something as simple as a Galentine’s getaway became an opportunity for deep friendships, spiritual encouragement, and personal growth.
